Hi, I'm Lisa Ryan.
Over the years, my creativity has taken many forms, from interior design and home staging to glass art and jewelry art. In my design and staging work through Smart Move Design, I've helped people transform their homes, whether preparing them for sale or creating spaces that feel more beautiful and inviting.
One of my favorite creative adventures has been working with broken glass. I love the colors, the textures, and the challenge of seeing the potential in something discarded. An old vase might become a sailboat, a fish, or a lighthouse. Each piece of glass is part of a puzzle waiting to be put together, and the possibilities are endless. There's something incredibly satisfying about giving ordinary materials an entirely new life.
More recently, a friend introduced me to surface pattern design, opening up another world of creative possibilities. I love seeing an idea evolve into a pattern that can find its way onto fabric, wallpaper, or everyday products. Today, surface pattern design is the heart of my work — the collections on this site are where all those creative threads come together.
Inspiration comes from just about everywhere. Summers on the St. Lawrence River, nature, travel, interesting architecture, vintage treasures, and the little details of everyday life all find their way into my work. My designs don't follow one particular style. Some are coastal and relaxed, others colorful, whimsical, or a little unexpected.
For me, creativity has never been about staying in one lane. It's about curiosity, experimenting, and discovering what something could become.
Designs by Lisa Ryan is a collection of those creative explorations, and I'm excited to see where they take me next. You'll find my patterns on Spoonflower and in my Etsy shop. I'm also available for licensing, collaborations, and custom design work — reach me through the Contact page.
